Virtual support through a pandemic

One way to manage the risk of contracting COVID-19 is to reduce your potential for exposure to the virus. Practicing social distancing, wearing a mask when you are out and washing your hands frequently are the best methods to control the viral spread. Practicing social distancing doesn’t have to mean missing out on the support needed during cancer — there are many virtual options available. While the idea of talking to someone virtually may seem uncomfortable, telehealth and telemedicine have been a part of many care plans long before coronavirus. It is a safe and convenient option to get the care you need. Novant Health Cancer Institute offers virtual options for oncology nutrition services, psychosocial oncology counseling and support groups allowing you to feel safer while gaining information, support and guidance while dealing with cancer. Ask your provider about available virtual options to consider if they are right for you.
